What is SEO? Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the process of making a website more visible in a web search result. On-Site Optimization is the process of ensuring that the website appears friendly to search engines (SE). This includes ensuring that all physical HTML code is effective and valid. Excessive code or broken code will make it difficult for the major search engines like Google or Yahoo to correctly interpret. The other part of on-site optimization is the actual content on your site that visitors see. The content must be unique and have the right amount of keywords in the text. A keyword is basically what your website (or individual page) focuses on. By having the right ratio of keywords too content a value will be given to your website.

Off-site optimization is the method in which you promote your site on other sites. This optimization method is called link building and is essentially the measure of your efforts trying to get your website linked on other websites. There are many methods of building links, comments on blogs, writing articles, even communicate with individual site owners. When the SE sees other websites link to yours they increase the value of your website and in turn the page ranking. The main thing to remember is that you should focus on getting links from websites that are relevant to yours. SE values related websites much more than unrelated.
